Spiritual Counseling

Solving the "issues" in our lives supports us, but without a deeper awakening we tend to journey from one issue to another, often revisiting the same struggles time and time again.

Rabbi Ted's approach to the psycho-therapeutic encounter bridges the psychological and the spiritual, expanding the benefits of both modalities. Because he practices a spiritual approach to counseling, people frequently come to him when they have difficulty determining their goals in life, are struggling to achieve the goals they have chosen, or when they get caught in a deeply negative situation. Spiritual therapy opens us to the meaning of our issues, and the ways that our problems and our pains can become purposeful avenues to a more profound healing.
  • What do you mean by "spiritual"? Being aware of oneself as being connected to all there is.
  • Do I need to be Jewish? No. The emphasis is on a spirituality that transcends any particular path.
  • Do I need to be religious? You can be, but it's not necessary. The focus is more on a universal spiritual perspective than on any formal religious practice.
  • When and where does this happen? Rabbi Ted meets with couples and individuals on Mondays at the Blakeley Wellness Center, 2901 NE Blakeley Street, Suite 3B, close to University Village, in Seattle. Depending on his schedule, he is available for phone and webcam sessions at other times.
  • What if I don't live in the Seattle area? People all over the country have sessions with Rabbi Ted via phone and webcam.
  • Is it a long-term commitment or can it be a one-time thing? That depends upon the unique needs of each person. For some, even one session can radically unlock greater clarity. Others find multiple sessions more helpful, whether weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.
  • Is spiritual counseling covered by insurance? While Rabbi Ted has a doctorate in clinical psychology, spiritual counseling is not covered by insurance.
  • Can I pay by credit card? If you live out of the area or want to pay by credit card, we ask that you prepay for your appointment via PayPal below. Rabbi Ted takes checks when he meets with people in his office.
  • What is the charge for a session? Hour-long sessions are $125 if paid by check; $130 on PayPal. Hour and a half sessions are $190 by check; $195 on PayPal. Rabbi Ted also has a limited number of low-fee hours available. To avoid being charged for the time if you need to cancel, please be sure to do so at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.
  • How do I set up an appointment? Please e-mail to discuss setting up an appointment. Do not write anything confidential since Rabbi Ted is not the only one to open mail at this address.
